Dear family,
It was really tough saying goodbye to everyone this week! I will miss
Grimsby so much but I know it is all for the best! My heart will
always be in Grimsby! Now with that being said, I absolutely love
Bradford! This place is sweet it's like I'm in a whole different land!
It is so beautiful up here! There is a huge Asian community here!
(Asians here are middle Eastern people likeIndia, Iran, seria,etc...)
The smell of curry is always in the air let me tell you! The ward is amazing
a lot of them were converted from the
Muslim Faith! There was a deaf guy named Raji... he is a homie! I love
this man! He spoke in sacrament meeting this Sunday it was one of the
best talks I have ever heard! Now your probably asking how a deaf guy
gave a Sacrament talk? He stood at the stand and gave it in sign
language while some one translated it through a microphone for him! It
was so cool! He told us a story how is family growing up was very
Muslim but one of his friends from the death school gave him a kids
Book of Mormon and told him about Jesus Christ! He was very confused
because he use to think that Jesus was for white peopleonly, but after his
friend explained who he was and gave him the Book of Mormon he was
very intrigued! He said when he first starting reading the book he
felt this power he could not explain and he felt as if he was there
with the nephites and the lamanites! He could not stop reading! He said
the book was like a treasure to him and that he would have to hide the
book under the bed from his family so they wouldn't find out! He
said he was very scared about the whole process because of his family
and he was scared he would be punished! He didn't really explain too
much what happened after but his testimony was amazing! There are so
many members here with such cool stories and such great testimonies! I
can already tell I'm going to love it here! The teaching pool here is
alright, there isn't to many people here that we are working with!
Bradford is known to be a struggling area! We are finding some good
people to teach though and we are working hard! Most people here are
Muslim here, so it's quite hard to find people that are willing
to hear us out! There is literally a mosque on every street corner! We
were on a bus this week and I would say there were about 30 people on
this bus, Elder Livingston and I were the only ones without hijaab
on! Half way through the bus ride these 5 guys turned around and
started asking us all the questions about Jesus and the difference
between him and Mohamed! It was really cool we gave them a Book of
Mormon and they gave us a quaran! I have learned a lot
about the Muslim religion this past week! They are such a beautiful
lovely people! To be honest I was quite scared because of alot of the
things I'd seen on the tv before coming out! We have been let in by a
few Muslim families this week and they were so generous they would
offer to feed us and we're so loving to each other and so open and
receptive! Such devoted and faithful people! They love there families
and are very close with one another! To be fair some of the families I
met this week were a lot better than some of the families that had the
true and living gospel in Grimsby! Remember these are people we
knocked on their door and they just let us in! It's kind of sad
because of safety rules we are not really aloud to teach these
people! One of the families fed us this stuff called 'chicken tikka ' it
was soooo good! I love the food here!
The culture here is so amazing I love it so much! My new companions
name is Elder Livingston he is a stud! He plays football for byu! Good
guy we get along just great! I really can not complain! He is from
Idaho! Missionary work is so great l love it so much! I've
come to love it so much! It makes me feel closer to my savior! I know
this is his work! I know this is his gospel! Sometimes while I'm out
knocking on doors, or just after a long hard day! I feel I catch a
glimpse of some of the work our Savior did while he was on the earth and I
feel in my heart the love he has for his children. It is as if
in that moment he is next me! Family I love you and miss you so much! Love Elder Tuita
